Summary
My research examines how media serves as a source of sexuality education and socialization for young adults, as well as how traditional relationship structures and beliefs are evolving in the modern age. Current research projects include evaluation of the Mather Center for Women's successful Department of Justice grant project and sexuality education course, as well as an exploration on household finance management in relationship to gender. My Master's paper used a survey-experiment to examine how positive vs. negative condom ads affected perceptions of condoms and perceived condom use in a vignette. My dissertation uses digital ethnography and the application walkthrough method to examine how dating applications are shaping sexual fields. I have also worked on social psychology and mental health, conducting survey-experiment research which explores how stigma around racial/ethnic and gender groups interacts with stigma around mental illnesses. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods in my research. I have conducted interviews as well as ethnography, and done several content analysis-based projects. I also am skilled in statistical analysis of survey/survey-experiment data. |
